We have finalized girl's name as "Zuha Manaal".  Would you please let us know the meaning & opinion of both names? Can we use them both as first & last name?  OR do you have any other suggestions?

Father's name : Ikramuddin Mohammed
Mother's name : Syeda Shumaila Maryam Qadri

الجواب ومنہ الصواب

The meaning of "Zoha" is not in our existing dictionaries, but it is still okay to use this name according to Shariah. However, one of the most important rights of children is that parents choose a good name for them because people will be called by their names and their parentages on the Day of Resurrection.

Therefore, the better name for a girl would be to name her with one of the attributes of Allah (SWT) as: Amatur Rahman, Amatus Salam, etc. or with the name of one of the blessed wives of the Holy Prophet (SAW), or the “Sahabiat”, or the names containing good meanings.

Alternatively; instead of Zoha, you can name her “Dhuha" ضحیٰ which means light or the time of “chasht” prayer. To make it more meaningful, you may add "Manal" or Ikram, as Dhuha Manal or Dhuha Ikram. Manal means donation and forgiveness and Ikram means, Respect, Honor, nobility, generosity and forgiveness.
