Meanings of the Name "Nuha"

 

Aasalamualaikum,

I wanted to know accurate meaning of the word "Nuha" and if it is a good name for baby girl.

So far I got conflicting meanings, one it means Intelligent/Wisdom and another It means the artificial wailing done at the time of someones demise.

Aasalamualaikum Warahmatullah

Noha (نوحہ) means to yell, cry or beat ones self upon someone's demise. The letters which construct this name are ن، و and ح. According to the Shar'ai teachings, it is abhorrent to name someone with such a name.

One of the possible meanings of Nuha (نہیٰ) is intellect. The letters which construct this name are ن، ہا and ی, and is a name which can be given to a baby girl.

نوحہ کے معنی

السلام علیکم ورحمۃ اللہ مفتی صاحب

مجھے یہ معلوم کرنا ہے کہ کیا لڑکی کا نام نوحہ/نُہی رکھ سکتے ہیں اور کیا یہ ایک اچھا نام ہے؟

اب تک مجھے جو معنی پتہ چلے ہیں وہ کچھ لوگوں نے اچھا اور کچھ نے غلط کہا ہے، کچھ کا کہنا یہ ہے کہ اس کا مطلب ذہین فطین ہے اور کچھ کا کہنا یہ ہے کہ موت کے وقت جو چیخ و پکار کیا جاتا ہے اسے نوحہ/نہی کہتے ہیں۔

نوحہ کے معنیٰ کسی کے مرنے پررونے ،چیخنے چلانے،اورماتم  کرنے کے ہیں،اس کا مادہ ن،و اور ح ہے،یہ شرعا مذموم ہے،اور  نُہیٰ کے معنیٰ عقل اورفہم کے بھی آتے ہیں،اس کا مادہ نون ،ہا اوریا ہے۔یہ نام رکھ سکتے ہیں۔
