Food Offered by Non Muslim

Asalamu alaikum 

We are living in a neighbourhood of mixed cultured people. When our festivals come espically like our Eid's we distribute some sweets and treats with everyone. They seems to be okay and take it. 
 This morning an Indian reached out to me with the prasaad (sweet treat) which is actually being used a token to their statues and then they distribute it with the people around. 
My question is if It's ok to take it and eat it since it has been presented to their statues first and then to the people ?

الجواب وبالله التوفيق

It is impermissible for any Muslim to consume something on which the name of an idol was taken or which was offered in anyone but Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala’s name.  

If they share sweets etc. on the occasion of their religious festivals with you, it will be impermissible for you to eat it. However on our religious occasions we can share food etc. with them, there is no Shar‘ai contention in doing that.
