Kaffarah

Assalamualaikum,

If a man put his hand on Quran and promised his wife that he will not marry another woman in her lifetime. 

What is the Kaffarah for breaking this promise?  Keyword here is that he promised with his hand on the Quran.

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

Making a promise putting the hand on the Qura’an it does not become an oath (قسم), hence the Kaffarah will not be compulsory. This will remain a promise which will be compulsory to fulfill it. One will be a sinner not to fulfill it without any excuse and there will not be a sin if there is an excuse.

قرآن پر ہاتھ رکھ کر وعدہ کرنا

اگر ایک مرد قرآن پر ہاتھ رکھ کر اپنی بیوی سے وعدہ کرتا ہے کہ وہ اس کی  زندگی میں دوسری عورت سے شادی نہیں کرے گا تو اس وعدے کو توڑنےکا کفارہ کیا  ہے؟ اس نے قرآن پر ہاتھ رکھ کر وعدہ کیا تھا۔

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

قرآن پر ہاتھ رکھ کر وعدہ کرنے سے وہ قسم نہیں ہوتی  ہے کہ ٹوٹنے پر کفارہ لازم ہو،وہ وعدہ رہے گا جس کا پورا کرنا ضروری ہوگا ،بلاعذر پورانہ کرنے کی صورت میں گنہگار ہوگا ،اور عذر کی صورت میں گناہ  نہ ہوگا۔
