Assalamualaikum,
If the groom is unable to pay the Mehr amount before marriage/at the time of marriage and promises to pay later, and the bride agrees on this, is there any time duration during which the Mehr needs to be paid to the woman after marriage?

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق
If the promise is to pay the Mehr after the Nikah then it is called Mehr e Muajjal. There is no specific time period to pay it, however, it should be paid as soon as possible because it is a loan, sooner as possible a person relieves himself from it it’s better.

السلام علیکم
اگر شادی سے پہلے یا شادی کے وقت دلہا مہر کی رقم ادا کرنے سے قاصر ہے اور وہ بعد میں ادا کرنے کا وعدہ کرتا ہے اور دلہن اس پر راضی ہوجاتی ہے تو کیا کوئی دورانیہ ہے جس میں عورت کو شادی کے بعد مہر دینا ضروری ہے ؟

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق
اگر نکاح کے بعد مہر دینے کا وعدہ ہے تو وہ مہر مؤجل کہلاتا ہے جس کیلئے کوئی معینہ مدت نہیں ہے البتہ جتنا جلد ہوسکے ادا کرنا چاہیے کیونکہ وہ ایک قرض ہے جس سے جتناجلد ہوسکےسبکدوشی بہترہے ۔
